Wow, thanks. I had completely forgotten this year!

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

I was a academy last weekend just looking around in the fishing dept. notice that they had table and chairs. I went ahead and bought my license. $30 bucks WOW. I guess that money goes to killing grass in the lakes LOL.

afaik 100% it goes to conservation in Texas. I don't really think $2.50 a month is an exorbitant amount to contribute to get to enjoy the 500 some odd bodies of water we have in this great state...

If you'd like to contribute more, perhaps consider a nice license plate upgrade to show your enthusiasm for supporting your local fisheries.

So we can get a ticket for fishing without a license

But you can enter the USA legally and get a free pass to school, education, medical.

Great........

Hey guys along the line of being legal...Is there a single year purchase that gets us on all local lakes? I have seen several yearly deals but Im wondering if there is a single pass for all.

Doesn't matter what they tell you it will go for, they will just funnel it into the general fund, just like they did with the stamps a few years ago.

No, that is just an ignorant myth people spread because they hear it and are too lazy to research anything and then spread misinformation as facts. Welcome to the new millennia.

What actually does happen is that our money gets held and not spent appropriately, to cover deficits on paper and make our budget look balanced when it isn't truly, essentially making the money unspendable until the budget gets corrected. But the funds can't be spent on anything else regardless, they can only sit.

"The common belief is that part of the approximately $90 million Texas hunters and anglers pay annually for the more than 2 million licenses is siphoned out of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department coffers and used to finance unrelated state programs. This is a persistent myth.

Not a cent of fishing or hunting license fees goes into the state's General Revenue Fund or other accounts used to pay for non-outdoors-related state programs or services. All of it goes directly into the Game, Fish and Water Safety Fund officially, Fund 9 - which, by law, can be used only to fund TPWD programs."

Read full article for more info, and do some more research if you'd like to know more. Stop telling people wrong information if you have no clue what you're talking about though.

$30 a year to fish and support conservation, even if we just end up balancing a budget that continues to allow TPWD to operate... I get at least $30 worth of service a year from my fishing license. I'd contribute $30 a year just to keep search and rescue capabilities staffed around local lakes for when stuff goes bad, and I don't particularly care for the idea of sharing the lake with anyone who wouldn't.

At less than $35.00 a year its a true bargain. Pennies a day to enjoy so many great fishing opportunities in this state that its amazing. I will happily pay that. TP&W is at the top if not the best wildlife agency in the country. No way in hell I am complaining over what little a license cost at all.
