My son and I strayed from the Striper and Catfish we normally chase and got into some Crappie in Oklahoma while on a short family trip. The wife rented a cabin in Beavers Bend to relax before school starts, and after I checked it out and saw pics of that lake, I took the boat along. Got them on minnows and jigs of various color. We fished for them two days, and ended up with 48 the first day with a little help from a local, and 31 the next.

I've always bass fished that lake but I think I'll go for crappie next time. Love that lake. Looks like you and the son really smacked em'. Those are some good sized slabs. Were you in timber on the north end of the lake?

Yes, we were. I came across a couple brush piles that were loaded with crappie while watching my graph.

Check out this video on summertime crappie fishing on Broken Bow lake(Beavers Bend, Oklahoma). Stayed there a few summers ago and was skunked from the bank. Taking the boat next time!
