I pair mine with a size 25 Pflueger President XT, but they don't make the XT's anymore. The blue Presidents are a tried and true panfish spinning reel.

I have a shakesspeare Micro series 7'6 UL spinning rods and a 7' light I use for jig fishing, probably the best rods for the money, less than 20 bucks each THOSE WILL OUT PERFORM 100 DOLLAR RODS BY FAR!!! I HAVE THREE OF EM AND CATCH EVERYTHING FROM PERCH TO STRIPERS WITH EM!!

While fishing last year, I hung a fishing line and started pulling it into the boat. To my surprise, there was a 5' UL Quantum rod and a small US Reel, Super Caster 180, on the end of the line. It had not been in the water long, was in perfect condition. This little reel is a jewel. It has a relatively large diameter spool and a smooth drag. I also like the rod, always fish with it in my float tube.
