 Fishing Map Software Question?

I'm new to fishing in my boat just got it a couple months ago so any help would be appreciated. I just got a Lowrance Elite 5 HDI installed. I wanted to know do I need a certain map card for this or the insight genesis have a specific map card I would need. I'm looking for something that can get the job done and not spend a fortune. As far as on insight genesis am I able to enter GPS coordinates on the site, save them, then transfer those to the card, enter the card into the Lowrance and them be saved on there. I'm new to all this stuff but wanted to use the upgraded maps that show where timber, creek channels, road beds are in these lakes, right now I just see depths and contours.

Here is a really good forum for posting Lowrance questions. Just set up an account like you did here and you're good to go.

BBC bass boat central has good info on Lowrance and Birds. You can learn a lot there.
