Don, how are you attaching the hooks when you change the placement on the spooks? I had the front hook pull out when hit by a small (1-2 lb) striper. I need to attach a new hanger but not sure where to get it or how to make sure its secure.

In memory of Mr. Kreguer I have two spinner baits to give away. Sorry I am so late with this but I have been digging through all my old spinner baits to find them. I put this in the post about his passing; but felt many of his close friends did not come back to take a look.

It was in 1998 during the Travis Team Open on Lake Amistad when Elroy came knocking on my motel door. He knew that I carried my spinner bait building box with me to every tournament. He had lost his GOLDEN BOY to a huge fish in practice along one of the grass lines. These are two of the four we built that night and I am proud to have the pattern for his best spinner baits that he threw everyday on the wind blown grass.

Mr. Kreguer took Big Bass on one of these during that tournament and I finished 6th place overall. Sorry I don't know which one did the job for him but the Indiana Blade got me in the top 10. I would like these to go to his closest friends.

Having trouble getting bit on your spinner baits? There are some techniques that will turn this around in a hurry. The key is to fish different blades and skirts than everyone else is using. As I stayed with the old school baits and watch the trend move into a different direction my bite kept getting better. Spinners still produce bass after bass for those who know when, where and how to fish them. We just have to adapt to these subtle changes that have changed the spinner bait bite over the years. These have been made to represent the bait fish as closely as possible.

It's common knowledge that big baits catch big bass, but not as many bites. Struggling anglers who no longer have a spinner bait tied on need to get some bites to get their spinner bait confidence back. The best way to do that is to fish a smaller bait. The Buzz-Drop

This bait is patterned after the Billy Phillip's Do-Drop-In. It is one of the only multi-task spinners on the fishing seen. Not made any longer this is a must have bait that won many tournaments back in the 70's on KY. Lake and the Tenn. River.

You can buzz this bait across heavy grass through the pockets just like any other buzz bait; but this bait is subtle when the Bass are resistant to the normal Buzz noise. I guarantee they have not seen or heard this buzz. The bait is a killer when allow to fall as the blades helicopter down causing the bait to fall ever so slowly into the cover. It is also an excellent Wake Bait when pulled just under the surface. It will nail those big Bass when slow rolled over brush and lay downs.

EXAMPLE:
My 3/4 oz. Traps keep getting better and better as it looses most of the Chrome/Hologram on the sides. We have a very good audience of Bass on our Mexico trips and it is a perfect testing ground. Here are the numbers on one such trip.
- First day it caught 10 Bass with the hooks scraping tracks.
- Second day it averaged 20 with a couple of spots to the bone base.
- Third day it caught 25 and now is loosing lots of shine and the spots are larger.
- Took the knife blade to it and made the spots larger. It caught 40 Bass the next morning and was still getting better by day 6.
- Now most of the Chrome is gone; but just enough to flash that ghost image that they seem to like. By the 6th morning it was catching over 40 each morning and would have done better than that; but my arm couldn't take it any more.

Prediction is that all hard baits that are very worn will almost double my catch over a new bait.

The Halloween Spinner Bait:

We all have been caught in an upper level disturbance while fishing. Most fishermen will either stay home or get off the water because it is going to be a miserable day and the bite seems to just shut down. Actually the exact opposite is happening. The huge bass are grouping together and being very aggressive in the backs of larger creeks. The inside bends of these creeks are the best where the cover is the heaviest. The Halloween Spinner Bait is one that I spent years tweaking so it will catch the big bass that are so active during inclement weather.

This bait has won many tournaments over the years in bad weather situations when they would not bite any other bait. The stranger the conditions the bigger the bass it catches. My largest stringer was in Ky. with 10 bass weighing 62 lbs. caught on the Ohio River in Shoot #1. Sense this big stringer in 1972 the bait has been constructed with up grades to be even better. The blade is Flor. Orange and Diamond Dusted. It comes with the discontinued Stanley Pro Trailer in Tomato/Blue Flake. The skirt is Minnow Scented in the Halloween colors.

Pumpkin Blade:

I built this bait as close to and with the same skirt as the Halloween. I custom built it for those that love throwing a Blade Jig instead of a Spinner Bait. It is hand made with the best components available to produce the widest wobble possible. The blade is Prism Hologram and comes with the straight tail trailer which has been the best producing trailer on all my blade jigs. The head is just under 1/2 oz. as it has been drilled for the larges eye sockets with Prism Eyes. The skirt is Crayfish scented. It can be ordered with or without a weed guard. Baby Doll Shad Blade
The chatter bait will be an excellent mimic bait of the Shad this Fall. I can build these any color blade glitter and etc. that you would want. I have even made these Blades Laminate with a different color like white to pearl pink on the under side. These 3 blades are Copper - Gold - Silver and done in Hologram Diamond Dust.

It is hand made with the best components available to produce the widest wobble possible. The blade is Prism Hologram and or Diamond Dusted. These are excellent confidence baits in 1/4 oz.; as they will represent all the pray fish that Bass are looking for with the Shad moving to the backs of the coves this Fall. I want to thank coachmatt for letting me rebuild some of his old spinner baits. He is already on the way to catching some good fish.

There are a few secrets to producing a Gorllia Baby Doll Buzz that I never told Boeing Driver when he ordered one of my best. He informed me that he would be fishing a tournament on an Old Oxbo Lake full of Cypress trees around Memphis, TN..

This is how you get the job done.
- Wires are twisted line tie but light enough to get that vibration and angle of the dangle going.
- Heads are special designed from the Amistad Hydrilla Gorllia bait from the 80's. Which in my opinion is the best Buzz ever made for clear water.
- The hook is a #5 extended shank; so no trailer hooks is needed.
- The whole bait is short and compact and will cast a mile.

Now for the TRICKS which takes me 2 hours to produce:
- The blade is also a special CAST, with a open curl so it will slow walk the surface. It is not the slowest blade that I build but is is slow enough to win.
- The hole in the blade is enlarged so it it sloppy on the wire. It talks the walk and plays a tune that those big fish cannot resist.
- The RIVIT has been heated which makes the Alum. begin to bring tiny bubbles to it's flat surface. Then I sand it so there are no spurs. The screech is unbelievable.
- All that remains is for you to tune the upper arm so the blade TICKS the lead head. You can tune it loud or you can tone it down.
