Spent a few hours experimenting around with foil and color. These are CB-12 blanks that I covered with silver foil from Hobby Lobby. Roughed up the foil just a bit to give it some texture. The shad patterns are done with three Createx colors on one lure and four on the other lure. Difficult to capture with an iPhone camera, but the foil enhances the color shift in direct sunlight. Depending on the angle of light the colors shift from bluish to greenish with a shimmer of gold in between. Very satisfied with the results…enough to keep experimenting with foil and paint combinations.

Awesome! The colors definitely look different depending on light angle, very life like.

Great baits! I have covered quite a few baits with dollar store aluminum foil.

Never had much luck with aluminum foil or space tape. The blanks in the pictures are covered with silver leaf metal. Basscatdad was the first on this forum to use foils on bare blanks. He's done some very nice foiled lures flehan. The stuff is messy and hard to work with but it makes a pretty fair base for paints and gives off a nice flash in sunlight. Slick blanks are best for flash and textured blanks seem to be more realistic 2cents. Six of one or half dozen of the other...just a matter of preference. Hope to post a few of both types in the future. texas

Figured the blue sided lure would be best of the two...wrong. Turns out this CB-12 foiled shad pattern gets bit a lot more. Last trip out it fooled a bunch of 2-3 lb. bass feeding on shad schooled up on a levee that tops out at 8 foot surrounded by 14+ feet of water. The bait casts like a bullet even on windy days and with the right hooks can be made to suspend without effecting the action of the lure. The one in the picture floats and has #4 hooks and a rattle. Guess I'm gonna need to make some more of these. texas
