After the past two weeks of 100+, was nice to see 95 for a high. Weather cooperated with just enough breeze to keep the heat down. The fish seemed to have picked up the bite from the last two weeks and were cooperating for most of the fishermen. Jigs tipped with minnows seemed to be the most popular bait. Most fish were caught in water 18-26ft about 12-16 ft down. However, a few people found fish in 10-12 FOW. Sort of a typical late summer pattern for Fork. There were some impressive weights posted by the teams; it took 11+ lbs to crack the top 5 in DIV I and one very impressive 12.56 in DIV II. Congrats to everyone. The reason Jaydon and Rhonda are not shown in DIV I: their boat tangled with one of those Fork stumps knocking a small hole in the bottom and damaging the lower unit on Thur. So they were out of commission. But they were at the weigh in smiling as usual. Here's the unofficial results:

I'm finally siting on the porch enjoying some Jason Boland and a good cigar! So glad this one is over! Thank yall for being so great to Langdon! He loves it! Looking forward to Cedar Creek! We've been practicing his cough for Thursday before we head that way and have dug up a road map to get there!!!
Yee! Yee! Yee! As little man says when his momma ain't around cause she doesn't like the turtle man. But what happens at fishing camp stays at fishing camp. Well unless you ask him, but I'm working on that!!!

Watching Langdon at the weigh-in was great. After his fish hit the scales and the weight popped up, he turned around and looked at Mom and gave a thumbs down. Then when he was called up for his junior angler award, that smile just got bigger for the next 10 minutes. Everybody got a chance to see his Thump Buddies from Constant Pursuit Outfitters. One happy young man. Just the way it's supposed to be.

I don't know who this young man belongs to but, this guy stole the show in my books. He was sure proud of his new Thump Buddies. I was pulling up to weigh in and this young man was on point asking me. Did you catch any big ones? Did you catch them on the stumps? Did you fish under the bridge? How many did you catch? This dude has been bitten by the crappie bug in a bad way! Dad you got your hands full and keep up the good work.

Haha! Nice meeting you Kirk! He wakes up and goes to bed thinking sbout fishing. He just came out on the porch a minute ago and wanted to go down to the dock and fish tonight! I guess he's rested up from his 15 minute power nap from minnow bucket to W 515! His momma wanted to sign him up for soccer ! He said no wait. That's gonna cut into my fishing time!!! She looked at me for support and when I could finally wipe the tears out my eyes and quit laughing I said he had a valid point!! He told me he would go to kindergarten but not all the time cause it's gonna get in the way if fishing!!! Least he's wired right!!!

No doubt the fishing was tough. I think we had 10 total keeps to cull from, so we we're a bit lucky to push over 9 pounds. The slightly lower temps and light NE wind made it pretty comfortable for an August tourney. I caught all my fish on JIGUM's "Zorro" tipped with a small minnow. I think most were caught on similar.
And I agree, Langdon stole the show! He gave me the same shake down: How many did y'all catch, stumps or bridges, etc. I'm gonna make a prediction...that boy will own a boat before his 18th birthday. lol!
As always... THANK YOU to all the CAT officers who always do a great job running these tourneys!
Here's one from Friday morning heading out to prefish.

The fish beat us up pretty good. It was a very pretty morning and as always it was great seeing everyone.

Hey Slew, I don't think I ever got the chance to answer all of Langdon questions. Let him know that I cleaned 40 and if he wants to know how, where and what type of cover we caught our fish on, he is going to have to meet me at the ramp and I will show him. Think, Frogs. Anytime he wants to go just call.

I fished with Langdon once a few weeks back. Doesn't take long talking to him to figure out the little man is all in! Met him and Slewfoot on the water at 6:00 am. It wasn't even daylight yet and he was focused and ready to go. I was very impressed.

I'm thinking Langdon may be getting set up to be the next crappie prodigy. If he keeps hanging around all the CAT guys, the odds are definitely in his favor. I'm glad ya'll got some good pictures of him, that made my day.
Bill, great photos as always brother.
Kirk, did you ever put that big black crappie on the ruler?
