My family and I will be heading down to port aransas this week I have a kayak and some bass rigs that I will be taking also a couple of ten foot surf rods but have no clue where to start with trying to catch anything last year when we went down all I managed was a few hardheads on dead shrimp is there better bait that may produce more fish or is it just luck of the draw

Redfish are on the move in the back bays with some bull reds in the mix.

Trout fishing has been good to excellent, especially over the shell reefs I wade fish.

Lots of kayak launching spots around 361 bridge. Lighthouse lakes trail, Brown and root flats. Topwater early.

I fish on a 14 ft piece of plastic.

If you are using dead shrinp make sure they are fresh dead that havent been frozen, live shrimp or croakers. Other than that use artys crankbaits or jigs w/plastic.
