When I bought my Sea Ark/Etec, I was told that in hot weather I would lose some RPM. I checked it yestray and sure 'nuff, I seem to have lost about 200 RPM @ WOT. It could also be because I may be loaded a little heavier, not sure. I've heard of guys re-propping for hot weather to get the RPM back, but 200 RPM doesn't seem like that big a deal and not worth the expense of an extra prop that would only be used a few months of the year. Your thoughts?

Unless it is a performance boat, probably not worth the expense. Now, if you are one of us that think it is a good idea to always have a spare prop, size it for the summer months and use it then and put it as your spare the rest of the year. That way, you have a spare and a summertime prop all in one.

I do have a spare. My boat was rigged with an aluminum prop when I bought it. I replaced it with a SS on of the same pitch, so I do have a spare. I didn't think it would be necessary to anguish over a couple of hundred RPM.

I'm running a 15 pitch so going to a 19 would cause me to lose RPM. I'll just ;eave it like it is. 200 RPM loss isn't a deal breaker on my boat.

your right bob it wont help you at all but if you fined someone who might want to trade you you can have it. i wont ever use it i have a 4 blade starless on my boat and being a heavy premaster with a 150mercry blue water it will punch my 21ft boat at about 47mps if i get the striped up and jack plate set right but i normally dont go over 30mph WOT drinks gass. but i say screw it unless you lost a lot of proformance i took the adivice from 2 people on changing the prop off my old Promaster when it was loaded up it had a little of a hrd time getting on a plain. after i changed out the prop to a lower pitch it would over rev the rmps i was never able to open it up after the swap out would out over reving the motor i also lost 4mph went from 35pm to 30-31 to me it was not worth the almost 300$ i paid so unless you are really worried about it or it is making a big difference i would not spend the cash on 200rpm's how does it run with 2-3 people in the boat

I'm by myself almost all of the time and I haven't run it with 3-4 people since back in the spring, but I have it loaded with tools and parts that is probably the equivalent of a second person. It also has a T-top and it's heavy aluminum. I still get on plane in around 3 seconds, so I'm thinking don't mess with success. When the weather cools down a little I'll get the RPM back. I don't cruise at WOT. around 4200-4400 is where I usually keep it. High end on the motor is 5500 so I'm not even really taxing it.
