Got on the lake at 3pm and launched at Lavonia. Burned lots of gas looking for them. Wind was shifting like crazy and when I do find them they all got locked jaws even the 3" sandies and yellows. Ended up with one 3" sandie and a yellow for the day. So we called quit at 6pm. Loaded up the boat and as I was headed out of the park. I saw smoke from my trailer tire. Pulled over and noticed the fender was rubbing against my tire. So I jacked up my trailer and find the spring broke in half. Now I have no support of any kind for the wheel. I'm pretty much screwed at this point. Lucky for us there are houses near by and my buddy went for help. Not much they can do but let me parked my boat on their property until I can get a new spring. Absolutely great people. Thank you!

The great days make up for the bad ones. Burned a trailer hub so bad back in March my boat sat in the ditch by the highway for 5 days, an hour from home, while I found then replaced the axle, hubs, and bearings.

You'll get her fixed then slay them next trip.

I bet someone hit it at the ramp parking lot. Look around the trailer for impact damage. If you find it you may be able to file an insurance claim. That happened to me one year and I ended up with a new road runner trailer but had to pay a big portion out of my pocket. The damaged trailer was a piece of junk and I was glad to finally get rid of it.

Keep us posted on the Lavon fishing. I've had it on my mind to go here lately.

I've broken a spring just traveling. I don't think somebody had to hit you.

@Anchorman..I've checked my trailer. No damaged to it. But thank you for your suggestions. Now I've to get that replacement spring asap. I'm guessing I have to check all trailer places. I'm thinking calling Tracker Marine since I bought my boat there. Thank you everyone.

Yes, that was a bad day for sure. I sometimes think if this fishing thing is worth it. The bad thoughts pass after a good day though.

Hey, I love fishing, I've had pretty good luck finding trailer parts at Redneck Trailer here in south Arlington. I don't know if they have one up that way. I lost a spring about 40 years ago down on the coast due to it rusting to pieces. At least we don't have that problem up here. They are probably going to want to know the dimensions and how many layers for lack of a better word. I was lucky when this happened to me because it was a fairly light johnboat. It was easy to jack the boat frame away from the axle, put a 4 by 4 in there, and drive it home ever so carefully to do the work. I don't remember how I kept the axle from walking around. I bet yours had a stress fracture where it bolts to the axle from what I see on your picture. I'd replace the other one too!

We launched out of Lavonia paid parking last sunday , went to put the boat at the floating dock, the wind was blowing towards the dock and I got all crooked with my lack of experience, I hit the corner of the dock with the sharp piece of steel sticking out of it , made a hole and a 10 inch gash in the side of the boat, I'm glad its not a nice boat like most of you guys have, but still sucked.

Gentlemen. .I finally got home with my boat. I found the spring at Northern Tool. My original spring was 3 leaves and I bumped it up to 4 leaves rated for 4,500 lbs. I did bought two so I can replace the other side. This gentleman that I left my boat on his property is a true gentleman. I offered him cash for his generosity and he refused it. No matter how hard I tried and he absolutely will not take it. Now I just gain a great friend and he knows that lake well. Next time I'm out there i am taking him with me. Thank you everyone for your help and suggestions. I am blessed it didn't happened on the freeway. Again thank you

Glad it all worked well! It's good to know that there are still nice people in the world like the guy that let you leave your boat that will help you in time of need.

I am glad things turned out well for you ILF.

As much as the media would like to think about the dire nature of ppl out there, I find many good ones on and off the forum. I don't carry much cash in my wallet and has had to borrow/run out to atm for cash at those cash only places. But the one time I had lots of cash in my wallet, it disentegrated falling aside the road while I was trailering my boat home. All the cash and cards were scattered over a larger area. Dennis and David not only picked it up, reassembled, googled, called, and met up with with every single ones of the more than $500 in my wallet that day. I think the only appropriate way to thank these good deeds is to instill same moral fibers in us, our children and paying it forward. Thank isn't enough.

But Thank you for sharing your not so great day on the lake ILF.

Do you know what dirty sox smells like?
