Hey guys,

Thought we would try Palestine in the morning early. Usually fish Athens.

Anyone have some suggestions / pointers as to where and what to try to catch some crappie?

Under bridge / which one? Docks / where?

Thanks,

cliffshot

Fish the timber(mostly submerged) main lake just north of horse farm.

Jump around from tree to tree and you should catch fish.

I'll show ya if you have a seat available.

Thanks. I don't have a seat in the morning. But I will come in my boat next time and take you up on the seat available. How about that?

What Roachie said! Brush piles are good to. Anywhere from 15 to 25' have been best.

Only us older guys know the horse farm. Today we have 3 large boat houses, 2 large homes and a third house that looks like a Holiday Day Inn, it is huge sitting on 2 lots. Cobb Creek is west of the Horse Farm point. Not many trees showing in the forest, but still some stumps with the lake down about a foot.

I finally got to fish yesterday. Tried some boat houses early, no success. Tried several BP , but the east wind moved me away. Found some BP along the east bank. Caught 10 or so, kept 5, some were 4-5 inches long. Great Day to be out!! Sorry no pics...

Oh, forgot to share the details. Jason is correct the fish are 15-20 fow near the drop. 1/32 oz was my best lure in Pepop's chart/blue with flash. Takes awhile for the 1/32 to get down, so I put a small pinch weight about 2 foot above the jig. Trust this will help.

Good job Roy! I haven't fished this week but everyone I've talked to said it was pretty tough.

Went out with a friend from school yesterday about 11. It was my first time being on Palestine in at least a month, and I was excited to be out there to say the least. Did a lot of boat riding to hit a lot of parts of the lake and caught fish almost everywhere we stopped at. Fished everywhere from Saline to north of the bridge to almost to the dam. Fished brush and PVC in 12-20' of water. Caught a lot of small fish, I would say we caught at least as many throwbacks as keepers. Also lost 3 more keepers at the boat due to not wanting to ever use a net. Bite was very light all day. Caught most of them on Electric Chicken tadpoles by strike king on a 1/8 oz. unpainted jig head. On the water at 11, off at 5. Palestine can be nice in the summer, but you have to figure out how to use your electronics and spend a lot of time scanning or sinking brush, and it seems like the fish want a different presentation every day. But when you figure out it's very worth it. I know it seems like Palestine is one of those lakes you can drop a boat in the lake and immediately have a limit, but I've always thought it was tough to fish, unless that bridge bite is on. The bridge bite is killer when it's on. Here's some pictures of the haul.

As ALWAYS Jimmy, WOW! UDAMAN! When most of us are settling for 5-10 fish of an outing, you always seem to end with a limit or close to it! WELL DONE!

I caught 2 nice slabs off the 315 bridge where we fished from 7--11. Caught too many cats and gaspers. Bite was super light. Caught on gulp minnow and a minnow under a cork.

Hey Jimmy sounds like a need a "lesson or two" from you?

At least we caught some fish. Saw some "regulars" fishing the bridge as well and they hadn't caught much either.

We saw plenty of bait, but couldn't get them to bite.

Thanks to all who replied.

Cliffshot

Any of you guys who "know Palestine" ever willing to go along I will gladly pick you up.

Why would you fish with a 1/32 and add a split shot and not just tie on a 1/8 and be done with it?Until y'all show me that those painted heads hand made jigs and flora leaders catch more limits .I think y'all make crappy fishin way more difficult than it is.yall are starting to sound like a bunch of bass fisherman.ha Darrell

the 1/32 takes too long to get down deep. Put the pinch lead on line to speed up the drop.....

Just another way to confuse you
