Is kettle wood open yet? If not, what ramp did you use?

Silver Lake Marina is what I used and as far as I am aware that is the only ramp open on the lake. Just be ready to pay $20 dollars to launch your boat. Also I would advise you get to the ramp an hour earlier then you are planning on being on the lake because it might take that long to get on the water. The weekends are bad so as far as fishing the middle of the week I don't know about how long it takes then.

Looks like it's picking up. Thank you for the report. $20 launch fee is hefty for me.

Where were you finding them at grapevine? I may go out this weekend but I've only fished the lake a few times

Yup its been picking up now that the lake is going down. Been catching most of them on the hellbender- spoon combo. It didn't hurt that we caught them schooling a couple different times on Sunday.

Does anyone know if there is place somewhere by that dam area that I can park and launch my inflatable boat on trolling motor?
Also, i can only be out there tomorrow morning btw 6-9am, any action at this time?
Thanks in advance.

Silver lake would be about the closest for you to launch. Don't know if they will charge you or not. It has been decent early in the morning. If they go to schooling it wont take you long. We hit our first school about 8:30 last Sunday.

Thanks for the quick reply. I googled and found some parking spots near to Mountain Bike Trail (off of Fairway Dr.) I marked the as red X in pic below what do u think? At other lakes, I've launched my inflatable boat in all areas of the lake (especially those that are not real launch points for gas engine boats) and no one asked me anything.

Just a few days ago I drove by and Rockledge Park was closed off at the entrance off of Fairway Dr. http://www.grapevinetexas.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=237

Thanks Muzzle. Yeah, sounds like it because the lady at Silver Lake Marina also told me she sees only 1 picnic table above water from her office window. She also said, everyone pays $20 at the Marina, even if you just park and walk around their marina area, it's a park fee, not a launch fee. So, basically you pay $20 for the park, and launch for free if you want.
And from your link, i got this, oh well.: "Fishing - There are no City managed locations that allow fishing on Grapevine Lake at this time"

Also read that parks dept. is asking for volunteers for a Sept 12th cleanup day. I guess that means the lake will still be closed until then.

Went out this morning and killed it. Caught a whole bunch trolling around with a 20' jet diver with a pet spoonand stopped about 3 times when I saw some top water action. Nailed the top water with cranks and rooster tails. They were definitely schooling up around the dam. Got on the water about 6:30 and left around 10:30. Me and my friend caught about 40 sandies. Not a bad day. About %80 were keepers. My friend actually caught 2 on one 1/2oz crankbait lol
