The last few times I have gone I had good luck just chumming with canned corn.

Some of the corn does not get out that far and I could see it from the bank; and see cats coming in cleaning it up. Few carp as well. They dont seem to mind each other but the cats are much faster at it then the carp.

I use cattle cubes all year on my trips. Very little mess and work great.

I have a mixture of hen scratch, wild bird seed and cotton seed meal that I started about a year ago. It's just now getting ripe after all this heat. Yep, it sits out in the hot sun. It's like cocaine to an drug addict. Cats can't stay off of it.
20% cattle cubes work to keep a hole bated out but the soured grain works immediately.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I was wondering if you guys baited a hole or just broadcast your chum out.

Nice to hear form you ChemDawg! Hopefully I can get out tomorrow to try your bait. I have some #32 stainless safety wire, and I'm making a new batch of float with the strong wire. It should work much better than the aluminum jewelry wire I had before.

I just pull up and through a few scoops out just after anchoring. Wait 30 mins if there not biting or there all small pull up and move. It works well, I have never had much luck with range cubes my be I am using the wrong or somthing . They just don't seem to work as well for me. I know alot of guys swear by range cube them. For me it is soured maze, milo, and soured wheat. Milo is my fist choice them wheat. The issue I have with wheat, when it's soured up, it makes me sick to my stomach. On your corks chemdawg uses a screw in eye that he glued in place. The wire thing just kept bending when I tried them out. Great idea though other then that little issue And works great now. You should ask him were he gets his eyes from. His 13 yr old makes them now and sells them on here. I think he he asking 75cents for them now was asking $1.50. He gave me some of your corks when he got them them and I liked them all but the bending of the wire. I bought a bunch from his son. I think it's great kids do stuff like this. It's better then watching TV or playing video games. His boys are not lazy they are some of the hardest working kids I have ever seen and every polite. When he does trips is youngest goes along as his deck hand. Those corks work very well and super sensitive on thos light bite day. I won't fish with any other cork now. You love the bait and how well it works. You will be hard pressed to fined one that works better. It's the only bait I really use any more. I buy it by the gallon.

willie its good to see you over here let me know how you like that bait we loved the corks and it up pm me i can send you a link for the yes they are way stronger then the wire. I tried a heaver gauge wire my self but it just did not work I found some 3mm screw in eyes that we wood glue in place i have broke a bunch but i have not had an eye come out yet I look forward to hearing your experience this place is a lot better then catfish one. the band me just because of who i am no other reason like stubby said i chum all year as well i make 12-14 buckets of chum at all times it wont go bad and in this heat it wont take long I dont know who hot it is were your at but its not much different get a 2 5gal buckets with lids 2 packs of yeast or cans of beer. put the milo in the buckets evenly not full but about 3/4 add the yeast the fill with waterfall the way up lay the lid on top the next day check it and add water if needed the grain will suck it all up it should take bout 7-10 days in this weather put the bucket in the sun take severely scoops i use a dog food scooper once i have them in the area and there eating even out i toss out 3/4 of a scoop it'll the bite stop all to whether then i move give it about 30mns after you too it over board i like to fish just on the other sid of it and i fish shallow 1-3 ft of water if you like the bait i have lower the price for do to getting the cheese cheaper is now $8.50 in stead of 10.50

Yeah I made 55 gallon barrel full of soured wheat chum. After it sours I drain the water off and let the black soldier flies in to lay eggs. Then I use the maggots for bream bait.

Good to know about the floats. I wondered if anyone would improve on the design. I mean it's such a simple design, you know? The screw eyes sound like a much better deal, not to mention to save a bunch of time.
