I've gone twice now to the area near Hackberry Creek. Caught a few and had more bites from bass, even saw a 5+ pounder crush bait fish on the shore, but am looking for advice on strategy. Other than the obvious bridges and dams there doesn't appear to be much cover. Does anyone know if there are underwater contour changes that make structure? Are there areas that tend to produce more than others? Also what lure selections tend to be good for here? Stickbait, jerkbait, and spinner worked well enough last time but always looking for an advantage. Any suggestions for both bass and crappie?

The creeks I've fished so far in N. Irving area and las colinas have proven tough if you don't have the right color for the specific location. I can throw a horny toad in white, watermelon seed and toad and not get a single bite but then switch to black and they'll knock it off the hook first cast. So I'd say try different colors of the same bait. Then also try a drop shot with a zoom finesse worm. That's on fire at the creek I fish. It catches everything from large sun fish to about 3 lb bass

If you have vegetation, throw a wacky worm. They were hitting it this morning.

Thanks! Are there any spots that have contour changes that will hold more bass? Where other creeks flow in, before/after bridges, etc?

Jefferson park kind of has that. There is 4 short creeks separated by dams. I've caught bass in the creek east of the McDonald's. Closest to the wall where the creeks are separated you can see some pretty big carp swimming around.
