So my starting battery went out last time fishing. Kinda ticked me off because it was a Duralast and only lasted 26 months - I could not find my receipt but the date sticker said June 2013. So went to Autozone and the guy convinced me to buy an Optima blue top. It cost me $220 (after core replacement) and comes with 2 year warranty. The guy said these batteries have been known to last 5-6years. We will see. I am hoping this is true because I've never spent that much on a battery.

I had a red top in my jeep it lasted 7 years. No joke! But that's when they were being made in the states. It's south of the border now. But I have them in both my cars and my wifes car going on 4 years now and 3-1/2 on my jeep. Also I bought a battery from Orielly's super start. Man good batteries. Going on 3 years now. Sealed acid battery. Just don't ever let them de charge really low, and get a AGM charger it can save them sometimes if they get to low on charge.

I switched to them this year. Very good so far. No problems, last all day and charge fast.

Optmimas are all I use on my boat! My cranking battery lasted 7 years. I have had a trolling motor battery that only lasted a couple of years! Be sure your battery charger has an AGM setting on it!

Wow, 7 years is crazy.

Not sure if my charger has AGM setting or not. It's a Minn-Kota, on-board, 3-plug/3-battery charger with green/yellow lights. I am worried about it, though, because before my old cranking battery went out --- the one I just replaced with the Optima --- the lights on all three batteries showed to be fully charged on the morning I went out fishing. Surely it would not have charged to full/green if this particular battery was bad???

All of the newer Minn Kota chargers have an AGM setting built in to it! I've had mine for about 4 years! If your not sure about your on board charger, then get an external charger with an AGM setting and charge or check your batteries that way!

I just replaced an Optima blue top cranking battery that was 11 years old this weekend...couldn't believe it when I saw the date code. Trolling batteries are 6 years old, and have no issue.

Just changed out my optima cranking battery. It was 9 years old.
It was still cranking the big Merc, running live well aerators all day long in the summer, and powering three Lowrance touchscreens with two GPS pucks. Only reason I changed it out was I got scared it was going to lay down on me. Not having to jack with battery acid is worth the extra money to me.

There are two sizes in that particular blue top, sounds like you got the big one. It's a beast, should last many many yrs.. You'll be glad you got it thumb
