i know... this authorities are really stupid..

benbrook was over 10 feet and now it is -.21. it will be -3 feet by the end of the year just from evaporation for sure... but this is how they manage water...

Some of it is simple evaporation due to summer temps. Most every lake in North Texas is falling weekly. Bridgeport was -.37 a week ago today. Now it is -.56. I keep up with water levels for about 25 lakes for a project.
The amount Bport is falling is not all that alarming at all.

They must not be wide open at that rate. Either way it will be business as usual. Like they always told us the purpose of the lake is as a water supply first and a fishery/recreational lake second. Sucks but thats the way it goes I guess.

It runs down hill.... at a little over 3 ft low it becomes difficult for the City of Ft Worth pumps to pull water out of Lake Worth. They are letting water out of EM (also 1ft low) to keep up with whats being used and evaporating out of Lake Worth. Bridgeport then dumps water back to EM. The water supply is set up in such a way that they will drain Bridgeport if thats what it takes to keep Lake Worth above the 3ft low mark. Plus I'm sure the "Save Eagle Mountain Lake" folks are pressuring the heck out of the TRWD to keep EM full also.

Bridgeport is part of Ft. Worth's water supply and it will fall according to their needs. We anglers must remember we are an afterthought to the cities need for water. Just be happy that it is only .56 ft low and not 25 like last summer.

yes but what happens if it does not rain the next two year? we will be in the same situation because we drop the lake levels on purpose.

If it doesn't rain for 2 years Bridgeport, EM, and Worth will all be drained...in this order.. 1) Bridgeport 2) EM 3) Worth. We will then live in a world much like the movie Dune and water will become known as "the spice".

According to an article earlier this summer, the City of Ft. Worth has a contractual agreement with Lockheed not to let Lake Worth get more than 4 feet low. This, I assume,is to ensure Lockheed can get water for its needs. Before the rains, Worth was running about 3.5 ft. low for quite a while.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

They need to let more water out of Bridgeport! Homeowners up there are in a panic due to the high waters levels. They are having a hard time getting their cars out of those carports below the houses!!

How is that possible with the lake being about 1' low now?
