Wow my freind you have a lot of patience. Yes i was in a pontoon boat over for a family visit and could not beleive what I saw as you were fishing a point and jet ski after boat after jet ski running between you and the bank some very close, i even thought one jet ski almost hit your line. Congrats my friend you are a very patient person most would have absolutely been throwing words and objects. People are ignorant to us fisherman.

It wasn't me this Saturday but I have been there many times and had that happen. On Cypress, I think you have to expect it and not be surprised when it happens. I don't let it bother me because I know Cypress is primarily a ski lake. I fish main lake stuff early late and at night, no jet skiing then!

Thats why I don't go to Cypress or Hubbard. However I think some of the people don't realize how rude there behavior is. Certainly don't respect a fisherman. There just in there world doing whatever. The selfie generation.

If it was in the afternoon and it was a red skeeter, it was my friend, Bob Gross. He lives on Bob Sandlin, but likes catching a bunch of fish sometimes on Cypress. He said actually, the jet fleas helped the bite. Said he went 10 for 10 casts on 1.5 lb spots on a 6XD, but that was too much work so he put it down for a drop shot. Said he caught between 50 and 60 fish yesterday, but all dinks. Heaviest was in the 3-3.5 lb range. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Yep I beleive it must have been him, he did catch a small spot as we were going by but the boat, and jet ski traffic right in his casting lane was brutal

Nah. Ppl get tired of going out there after hearing reports, only to catch 6-12 fish. Timing is critical in what he does. Those fish are t there until certain times and conditions. If anyone doesn't believe me, please go enjoy your time on the cypress ocean. One of the roughest lakes in Texas unless the wind blows!

I've been there dead of summer Ronnie, it's like fishing in a washing machine the waves are so bad. They come from all directions because of ski boats and jet skis.

Nice post. I am sure the jet skier did not deserve such patience, but good for you for keeping it together for you own sanity.

He may have been practicing for a BASS or FLW tournament trying to condition himself for all the spectator traffic and pressure.........He needs to go over to that lady at Eagle Mountain Lake they were talking about on here yesterday and let her yell and cuss at him for a while too while he's at it..... LOL!

At least we have one thing to look forward to on our lakes...it's getting close to Labor Day and the traditional tapering off of idiot boater season. I think that's why I like to fish from late October through the winter, when the water is too cold for them.

There is a very nice population of spots on Cypress. If you can pattern them you can have a lot of fun. This time of year they will be easy to catch on main lake points late in the evening. You just have to find what points they are on. A mid range small shad color crankbait should do the trick nicely. Sometimes the bigger largemouth follow them around and you can catch them deep right under the schooling spots (Kentucky's). I used to rig for both and Carolina rig a french fry or run a deeper running crankbait. I also did good slow rolling big willow leaf spinner baits letting them sink to the bottom and slow rolling them in. You'd be surprised how the big fish like a big spinner in deep water.
You guys are right about the mindset of the boaters and jet fleas on Cypress. Most are out of the city and have never been taught proper etiquette. The locals know better.
The waves bounce off the retaining walls and back into the lake. This is why its like a washing machine. It can get crazy rough because there is no pattern to the waves. Its just churned up and you have to be careful.
Cypress is best early morning, late evening, and at night during the summer. But I caught 2 of my 3 largest bass (11.9 & 12.2)on Cypress during the heat of July and August mid afternoon. If you are willing to sweat it out I have a simple method to catch them this time of year. Its a little non-traditional but it works.
