I just lost 2 tranducers in 2 weeks. Last time I bought one they were like $50. Now they are at least $70. That and the fact that I have several old style pucks in hull that work perfectly makes me think about adapters. These pucks have the black screw in connectors. I know I would lose temp but do not care. Head unit is an Eagle 480 and has the push in connector. Does anyone know if there is an adapter available. I looked at the Lowrance store and did not see many adapters. Maybe I should try the Lowrance website or CS.

At the cost of transducers, unless you happen to have one with the blue Lowrance connection, you're better off to bite the bullet for a transducer.
I don't understand how you're loosing them. Are you not putting them in the hull also. Both the skimmer and the puck can be mounted in the hull.

What I do not understand is the price increase on transducers. Last time (about 5 years ago) that I bought a skimmer it was $45 now they are $70. I have one the transom. It was an extra that I had laying around and put it on last year. I also have one in the hull for the dash mounted unit. The transom suddenly got weak. It will still barely pick up the bottom. The skimmer that I have in the hull for the bow just quit working. I had this happen before. I now have 3 pucks 1 of which I use for an in dash flasher and the others are dormant. The dormant ones worked fine when I quit using. This is why I was thinking adapter. In the hull I have the 3 pucks and at least 3 skimmers 1 of which works. Needless to say I am running out of room and that is the main reason I was thinking adapter. What I really need to do is buy an HD unit for the dash and run the current transducer to the bow. fyi, boat is almost 30 years old. I have successfully spliced before and I guess I will try that again.

Today's transducers are harder to splice. Older transducer had a coax type cable. these have multiple wires inside all shielded. Price increase reflects the advancements made in transducers in the last several years.

what advancements? I am looking at the exact same skimmer that I bought 5 years ago and it has almost doubled. Not looking at DSI or HD just a plain Jane skimmer.

Although physically has remained basically the same, the insides have gone through advancements. The same part number is kept and a "running" change is made that is transparent to the end user. That plus the price increase of just everyday living.
