Caught this spotted gar fishing tenkara today! Great fight with multiple jumps.

Solid work! I had one on for a few jumps last weekend. How you managed to keep tension on that hook with the jumps is pretty darn impressive, the fact you were fishing Tenkara makes it just ridiculous. Hat's off to you. What type of fly if you don't mind me asking.

Fly was a black killer bugger as found on Tenkarabum.com. The fight was one to remember. Hook was perfectly in the corner of the mouth which protected the 5lbs tippet.

Solid, I've yet to have one "cut" the tippet on me. The teeth are not sharp, just pointy.
They can certainly give a vicious head shake which has broken me off a few times. That head shake and the scales and gill plates being
very sharp is probably the source of most cut lines. Hope this is the first of many.
They are very reliable biters if you can find a spot to sight cast to them.
