Sure does, he mentioned the price tag of just those fish alone and , not to mention the rebuilding and waiting for rain..

That is horrible. I was fortunate to fish there with Jimmy many years ago as part of a charitable giveaway and the only word that describes it is WOW!
We caught a lot of great bass (no giants) but we also caught a ton of giant crappie!
What a shame! thoughts go out to the Houston family.
PM me to let me know how it was!

It really does show his character. He sounds like he's handling it extremely well.. Maybe some other great private lakes will help him add a few bruisers in there when he's ready... That has to be a sick feeling!!

Jimmy is probably being conservative when he mentions how much money went into raising his fish.
Two well-heeled lake owners have both told me they estimated it costs about $35K to raise one 14# bass from a fingerling.

I lost one of my favorite fishing holes at home in Louisiana to heavy rain. It rained so hard it washed out the over flow. It was only about a 5 to 10 acre pond, but it produced a lot of good memories for me as a youngster..........

With Texoma over-flowing twice, I wonder if any of the bass made it into the Red below Texoma. Could have populated more than just Texoma.

I don't know how that all works, don't most fish have a tendency to swim up stream ? I know I stood at the spillway for a hour one day just trying to see one fish go over it, never did see one, be curious to see how many fish are estimated to have gone over spillway or through the flood gates.

The amount of money per year to manage a 25 acre lake is staggering so I can't imagine 125 acres.
Poor Jimmy. Sounds like he's in good spirits about it after surely a few choice words.

Had to be a gut wrenching experience for Mr. Houston and family. With his positive motivated character, I'm certain he will fix things to make them better than they were before. I imagine he's taking advantage of the lower water to mark brushpiles and make/sink some more.

This happened a few months back and they should be well on the way to reconstructing the dam. I am sure Jimmy has the means and the friends with means to weather this financially, I bet the little fellar ain't broke
