Hey everyone,
I am currently planning a camping trip and was hoping I could get some feedback on it. What are some good state parks with good kayak launch access and fishing, around the Houston to SA/Austin area. The trip will probably happen in November. I plan to fish primarily for largemouth, maybe smallies, and might also do a little catfish fishing. Also, any tips on fishing for bass in November would be greatly appreciated as well. I am a majority saltwater fisherman and only started fishing freshwater this summer.
Thanks!

Lake Bastrop and Coleto Creek both are great kayak lakes, good fishing with nice parks.

May want to rethink Bastrop St. park. No water in the lake.

The lake that has no water is the 10 acre lake. The main lake is fine as well as the park area that is open.

I would add Lake Raven in Huntsville state park to that list as well.

On the main lake (Lake Bastrop) this is not a state park but a LCRA park.

I have not camp at either parks but had stay in the mini cabin on the South Shore a couple of time the camping look pretty good on the south side and the park itself were good.

+1
A great place to stay for a few nights (once school is back in session) and there are a lot of huge bass (but alas....no smallmouth), bream, and crappies in that lake. Catfish too. I highly recommend it (once school is back in session).

I've been to north shore park and camped there. Very nice and will go back again

Was in Huntsville SP the second week of July. Had a great time.
A couple of things to note.
1. Bass are catch and release ONLY!
2. Motorized boats are limited to idle speed only. Great for kayaking. Yea!banana
3. Most of the camping slots are first-come, first-served, so try to get there as close to check-in as possible, or get there on an off day.
4. Access to the waterfront is limited due to lakeside growth and giant salvinia.

I saw a woman catch a ~5 lb bass off of one of the piers. I was catching 8, 9 and 10" red-eared sunfish like it was Christmas. The biggest I caught was 1/8" shy of 11".

Normal Size:

The big guy/gal:

Most of them were caught on flies. The biggun was caught drowning worms right at dark.
