I finally was able to get on the lake today for some serious fishing time. I caught 18 hybrids and 6 sandbass. 8 of the hybrids were doubles on Nekidtackle's Ronrig Texoma Edition. What a blast reeling 2 hybrids at once! Wore a blister on my finger from all the reeling. If you haven't tried Ron's rigs, you should.
We had a boat show all day. Glad everyone is able to enjoy our local lakes now. Bridgeport lake is looking good finally. The water is clearing up and there is ALOT of submerged vegetation for all the little fish to hide in and the big fish to hunt them.
I noticed most people on all the boats catching some fish. Mostly small sand bass and small under hybrids. There were some nice hybrids caught also. Shad are abundant. Water temp was 89 degrees! won't take much more for it to start to boil. At least we have plenty of water for a while. Also they are not letting any out right now. I will post some pics later.

You will have the best luck on the mid lake humps. There will be several boats parked there, so you can't miss it. Water depth is around 21' to 26'.

The Texoma edition rigs work the best. They are 18" rigs. The 6" and 8" ones are ok but they aren't heavy enough to get that deep. I was dragging mine almost on the bottom. I had 5 oz weights and 9, 1 oz. jig heads on them, with 90 ft. of line out to get them down deep. When the hybrids hit, it was a very hard hit. They jerked the rod down and started stripping line off. I use 90 lb. braid for this so I can tighten the drag down a lot. PM me if you want, I can hook you up with ron. He's a great guy. At least check out his website. He made me a rig that is 31" across, with 9 leaders for jigs.

Good report. We are planning to go there tomorrow morning and give it a whirl. We tried PK last night for the first time in several years, and did not do well at all. We couldn't hardly buy a bite. We could see some small sand bass where there were some green lights that we happened to come across and no luck getting a bite on anything.

This is a picture of one of Jeff's Doubles..caught on the Texoma Transformer Edition RonRig...Thanks Jeff for the report!
Click Here to See RonRig TEXOMA TRANSFORMER Edition

One thing, I think Jeff was using the 5oz "Easy Clip-On RonRig/Umbrella Rig Trolling Weight". Without the Easy Clip-On RonRig/Umbrella Rig Trolling Weight, he would have had to let out about double the line, so 180-200 ft of line.

Thanks Ron, I just logged on to download that very picture. And you were right, it was the 5 oz. easy clip-on trolling weight. Once I get those jig heads your making for me they will be in the picture also. (Hint,Hint) Just to let everyone know, I also have a Capt. Macks A-rig, that I had on the other rod. I wanted to see which one produced the best. I caught 1 under hybrid, and 1 sand bass on that rig. 3 under hybrid, 5 sand bass, on shad. All the rest of the hybrids were on Ronrigs Transformer. They twisted all the leaders up, bent the arms in every direction, as you can see in the pic. I just straightened the arms out and unwound the leaders and dropped it back in to catch some more. I probably could have caught more but I wanted to see if the fish would turn on to shad mid morning. Spent about 2 hrs. waiting before I decided to break out the ronrig and put it to work. It definitely was the ticket. Every time I hooked up, one of the boats that were there would move to that spot, so I had to keep moving around all the boats. I guess I will have to get one of those selfie sticks to take pics of all the doubles from now on.lol

One thing to note, Jeff is very experienced with the large trolling rigs. If you are a beginner, try one of the 9" Pro Guide Special with 2 Willow blades. If ordered today, I will throw in 5 leaders, so that you can get the experience of fishing with a smaller trolling rig, built with the same high quality parts. This offer will expire at Midnight, this is an inexpensive way to get a feel for trolling with a Medium sized Casting/Umbrella rig. Remember it can also be used as a casting umbrella.

My advice is (Regardless of which rig you use or buy)
1. for casting, use smaller jig heads 1/8 oz are great. Once you cast the rig, let it sink and use varying speeds for retrieval.
2. If trolling, use 3/4 to 1 oz jig heads on each leg, and the center use 1 to 1.5 oz jig heads. Trolling speed should be around 3mph. If you want to get depth, use the RonRig Easy Clip On weights, in Jeff's example, he used the 5ox easy clip on, and his line was out about 90 feet, otherwise your line will be out 180-200 feet to attain the same depth. The easy clip on weights clip to the front of the RonRig, and your fishing line connects to the front of the Easy clip on. again regardless of which rig you use, these simple steps will make you successful.'

I also have received a ton of emails and inquiries, why did Jeff have better luck with the RonRig over the captain's....that is because of the super shiny 3.5 willow blades on the Texoma Transformer, they get the fish's attention by the light reflection (similar to shad) and the vibration and noise them make in the water. The 9" with 2 willow blades per leg work equally as well. The Texoma Transformer is massive, and has a total of 9 jig heads attached. the center is 16" long and the leaders are 8" for each leg, and 14" for the center. Tried and tested to outperform!

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions, but these Rigs are hot now and flying out the door smile

my email address is nekidtackle@outlook.com, I will answer all emails as time permits, but you will receive an answer.

Tight Lines all, and best of luck...

Yes, I'm experienced with trolling the rigs. I've experienced catching up to 23 lbs. stripers with them. Little sand bass, hybrids, and even a couple of trees at PK. I'm sure I will have further 'experiences' in the future. Capt' Macks rig is a really good rig. I have caught some big fish on them. The Transformer caught more fish I'm sure because of the large willow leaf blades flashing in the fish's face. They hammered the Transformer last weekend. The number one thing to keep in mind is don't troll 2 $40. rigs alone in the wind in the trees. It really hurts to lose them, and you will lose them. lol It helps to have someone else to help if you do get hung up. If you are at a lake that is fairly clear of trees and such it is much easier to get used to how to control the boat relative to what you what the rig to do. You can always just use one rig and use a deep diving crank bait on the other rod until you become familiar with how the rig performs. Most times when a rig gets hung up on a rocky or muddy bottom, you can drift back over the hung up rig and get it loose. If it's in a tree you will have to use one of Ron's retrievers to get it loose. Like Ron stated there are 9 (NINE!) hooks on the Transformer. It will grab anything in the water. Preferable it will grab you some fish!
Tight lines.
