Are swimbaits producing bigger fish? Seems like everytime I turn around someone is catching DDs on different swimmers. Is it swimbaits or just a bigger bait bigger fish theory?

Big bait theory is my guess. It is about confidence in the bait and the location of big fish.

I have no clue. Seen DDs caught on crappie jigs and I have caught 2 pounders on a big 8 in. swimbait. I just got into big swimbaits the last year or so and haven't had a ton of luck but catching a few more. I think timing and area is big. I know there are some lakes that guys will tell you the fish will hammer a swimbait certain times of the year but not others. I know people catch them on swimbaits year round but it seems the fish are most aggressive in the spring and that seems to be the best time of year from what I have seen and read.

It is just luck. I have seen them caught on 5" finesse worms and on 8" swimbaits. I have also caught bass on swimbaits that were as big as they were. I do believe bigger fish like bigger baits especially when they are sluggish but you have to get it close to them because they probably wont go out of their way to chase it. Using a bigger bait doesn't equate to catching giant fish. You will still catch average fish mostly.
