Caught this one today. Caught on 4wt with 8lb leader and No. 6 crawfish imitation. Saw him lurking and sight cast to him, hell of a fight. It weighed 23lbs, 8oz. This is the biggest one I've caught on a fly rod.

Part of it's tail was missing. A decent size
channel cat I caught just before had a fresh chunk missing from it. Something big and mean is in there beating these fish up. Probably gar.

Congrats!

Is there a water body record available for that monster? Nice job.

Sheesh. I thought he mouth was a bit weird but it didn't dawn on me it was a buffalo.

This isn't even close to the record in Texas on a fly rod: Buffalo, Smallmouth 59.00 lbs 40.50 inches Oct 28, 1997 Lady Bird Lake Gibbs Milliken Fly Rod, brown nymph

Now I bet THAT was a fight!

Ha ha! Dorito fly!

"Tied" that up after some goof was messing around with the fishing reports at April Fool's Day. Said Mermaids were fair on Nacho Cheese Doritos at Rayburn.
