I don't seem to remember ever seeing one here. Anybody interested starting up one?

If you do not know what a fly swap is:

A fly swap is a group of fly tyers beginner or experienced that tie up a certain number of flies within a deadline (usually a month) and then send them to the "swapmeister" who receives everybody's flies and then redistributes flies to all who signed up.

Ex: the fly swap calls for 12 people. Each person ties 12 different flies.
When you are done tying you mail your flies in a crush proof box (altoid tin) to the SM along with a pre-paid self a dressed bubble mailer. The SM will then take all of the flies and mail you back 1 fly from each person that was in the swap. That way you will receive 12 different flies back.

It is a good way to see what other people are tying. It is also a great way to try something new.

Each swap also has a theme.
Ex: anything that floats, only mayflies, any fly under size 18 hook, etc.

Let me know if you are interested!

You're right, it has been a while since we did a swap. It looks like the Bluegill fly swap was over 2 years ago...

I might be interested depending on the theme.

I would like to get a decent group together but if we can't in a week or so then I say let's do it with who we have. Maybe it will catch on again.

I'm free to tie for next 2 weeks. Let us know what's happening.

TexasBassBuster,

Your explanation of swaps is identical to one on a Facebook fishing group. He is from the DFW area, too. Are you working both spots?

I'm interested in this one, but not a monthly swap. Spent 2 years in the FAOL monthly swaps, not interested in doing that, again.

Well this one did fill up rather quick. I apoligize for not seeing your post when it wwas posted. I hope no one falls off for any reason but it could happen. Would you be ok with being an extra in case someone cancels? I will be doing another one next month.

The swap is full.

I threw the idea around a couple of places and it filled up fast.
Rex and Bob thank you for the willingness and interest in this swap. I will be hosting another next month and will keep you in mind.
