I like just the tippet to be floro for it's invisibility and the upper momo for a litle stretch all floro you will break a few off on the hook set.

Thanks

I use furled leaders made of braided line. The butt end will be in the 200# category tapering down to 50# plus. For tippet I will use mono from 6# all the way up to doubled 20#. Most often for bass fishing I use 2 to 3 foot of doubled up 12lb Ande clear mono for tippet. I don't lose too many fish to line breakage but have to be very careful not to break my rod... again wink Also I throw big flys most of the time and do very little finesse fishing for those spooky type of fishes.. I target bass in thick cover where I need the power as opposed to a delicate presentation. I don't waste to much time in the brush either with this much line strength I just rip the fly free..

tbates,
I do the same thing with tippet material. I usually use 5x tapered leaders. When I use up the built-in tippet, I tie another piece of 5x. When the leader butt gets too thick, I tie in a piece of 3x or 4x about 18" long, and tie my 5x to that. I'll replace the leader when the butt section bets too chewed up.
