I stayed out on Wheeler Branch from 7 AM until noon, about one hour less than usual for the summer. It actually was pretty pleasant out there with a little wind. I believe may car said it was 98 as I was driving off around 12:30.

Fishing? A bit slower today. I saw very few fish on the surface; it just didn't look like much of a top water day. I ended up with 5 and lost 1, all small including the one I lost.

All but one were on the south or dam side of the island. Drop shot the whole day.

Lots of fun . . . can't wait for a bit cooler weather though.

Brad

Man, I threw everything I had at them and nothing. From drop shot various colors of craws to deep diving cranks, I didn't even get a hit. The only thing I could think is I was probably fishing the bottom way too fast while attempting to fight the wind all morning. I did get on the north cove and see some 2-3lbs chasing my shad colored crank around 8 to 10'. I switched to a deeper diving one and spent a good hour trying to buy a bite.

All in all, I really liked the lake. Perfect size for a kayak and the water was beautiful compared to what I'm used to. Also, I saw you out there Brad as you were loading up, meant to come say hi once I was done loading our yaks but you beat me out the gate. I'll definitely be back and try and catch up with you then.

I'll be there tomorrow (Sat), too - in my pond boat.

I'll be the slow guy going down the highway when you pass me, phototex! It will be good to see you again!

And, last time, I was in my Sportspal canoe; this time I am bringing the Native Propel 10' kayak.

Drop shot as usual but I have a hair jig I am dying to toss around the dam . . . supposed to be dynamite for small mouth bass. Who knows? I still haven't caught one of them out there.

Brad
