My phone rings and it's the one and only Dennis Smith on the other line. "Are you in town? I have something for you." To which I reply "I can be there in fifteen minutes. You want to meet at the Walmart?" Much to my surprise, and I love surprises, Mr Smith hands me this handcrafted beauty of a plaque. Me being somebody who enjoys the details of life, this gift was something that really hit home with me. When he told me that it was entirely handcrafted, I just shook my head and said "thank you." Mr Smith, thank you again for taking the time to make me something that is very special, and will always have a place on my wall. Notice the smaller crappie in the middle, and the details around the cheeks and fins.

Laner, I have the very first one Dennis made, right over my desk and I'm looking at it as I write this. Only difference is mine says 'Okie Bob' on the top. Dennis is a very close friend and I was fortunate enought to have him and his bride spend the past Saturday at my place in Oklahoma. Being the first effort, I was very impressed with his craftmanship and the fact he took the efford to to make it for me! I have no idea how many hours it took to sit and saw the detail in it but, I'm sure it was a long, hard process! Thanks for sharing it Laner and thanks to Dennis for making a memory for both Laner and me.

What a great gift, the brotherhood of fishermen never ceases to amaze. Lane, I am sure that will be something you treasure for life. Dennis, you have a remarkable skill because lord knows how many hours of labor was involved in the detail, not to mention a heart the size of Texas.
