Something (suspect BIG rock) took out the lower unit on my 115 yamaha, it's not fixable. For those of you who have had the same misfortune or know someone who has; is there a recommended place on-line to buy a good used or rebuilt unit? Or place to NOT buy one?

Thanks, it sucks not having a boat.

Hopefully you have insurance, if so work with your insurance company.

I have bought SEI units and used units from individuals and e-bay. Only time I got burnt was by an individual. http://www.sterndrive.cc/Yamaha-Complete-Lower-Units.html

Gary Purdy,
How well did the SEI unit hold up?

My insurance company uses SEI exclusively. My adjuster said that he has had more factory built replacement lower units go bad than SEI lower units. SEI also comes with an excellent 3 year-fault free replacement warranty. If the lower unit has a mechanical breakdown for any reason other than abuse or impact damage, then SEI will replace it. In my opinion you just can't beat that kind of guarantee/warranty.

SEI units are great, just don't expect that warranty to hold if you tournament fish.

Thank you all for your input. I ordered a rebuilt from Crowley Marine, but am now wishing I would have went with an SEI unit. As long as I can get back on the water I'll be happy.
Again, thank you all for taking time to help out.
