Trying to decide on a new spinnerbait rod- its between the champion 683 and 684 for 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits. I have a savvy 704 and it seems really stiff for spinnerbaits but everything i read the 684 is recommended. What would you use/ what do you use? Thanks!

might check the 703 model. enough tip to be really accurate on the short tight cast but enough back to stick the big single hook good. this is my preference, but i prefer the longer 7' rods to the 6 1/2' range

I also use the 703 for spinnerbaits and really like it.

I would suggest you call Dobyns and they will gladly tell you what each rod will do best. This will help you make your decision. I have not used those rods but I do have the 744 and 733. They do load differently. I like the 744 because it has more backbone and is easier to set the hook on spinnerbaits. I use the 3 power rods more for Tx rigs where I can use thinner hooks. just my .02

I've got a Savvy 704 and I agree it's too stiff for spinnerbaits. The 703 would work.
If you want to save a few bucks, I've actually had great luck with the Shimano Sellus. Cost about $50, and you don't really need premium rods for sensitivity when fishing spinnerbaits IMHO. I've got the 6'10" medium Sellus and it's great. That being said, I've never used it for anything 1/2 ounce or heavier because it's primarily my pond rod. Anything that heavy you can throw on your 704.

The 703 would be good for a spinnerbait.

704's are perfect for spinner baits! I would suggest looking at the new Fury series in a 704. 703 models are a shakey head, whacky worm, pop R rod for me.

Little longer is my taste. The 734 is my favorite for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits & Texas rigged plastics(except larger 10-12" worms). Actually I have a couple 734's and they are my "multi-purpose/do everyting rods.
