Took the kayak out to White Rock yesterday morning to see if I could get into some bass. I was pleasently surprised to get into several nice bass. Ive fished this lake many times as I live very close but rarely find it worth my time. Although it wasnt an amazing day on the water it was productive. The first fish I caught was a drum which surprised the hell out of me! He fought hard and I thought it was a big bass until he showed himself. All in all caught 6 bass with the biggest being 2lbs or so. Nothing amazing but still nice to know I can fish the lake 5mins from my house and get on some fish! I plan on making some more morning trips soon to see if there are any bigger fish around! I have feeling there are some decent sixed bass and I would be stoked to pull a 5lber out of White Rock. Tight lines!!!

Very nice. I haven't kayaked there in a while but have had some fun days on the lake and up the creek.
This post makes me want to get out there soon.
Did you put in by the dam?
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart

Put in at the ramp by the filter building! Probably going again in the morning! That's where I seem to have the must luck too. I put in the other day closer to the Mount Vernon house and paddled around messing around my new Helix 5. Didn't realize just how shallow some parts of the lake are. I think I was paddling most of the time in 2-4 FOW. I know the southern half of the lake is definitely a bit deeper as I've sometimes not been able to use my 8ft stakeout pole. Anywho, awesome catch!

That's a good day on WR! I can usually catch one or two out there, but they're usually pretty small. Every now and then I can get a 2 pounder like those. There are some big fish in that lake I just haven't figured them out yet

TTUshane that's what my buddy from Tailwaters told me! I didn't realized how much sediment is in the lake causing it to be so shallow! I agree that there are se bigger fish in there sleep5 i just want to see them with my own eyes. I saw a bunch of small hybrids schooling but they wouldn't take. I'm wondering if a big swbait would do the trick. I'm going to put some time in and hopefully get what I'm after at WRL! Thanks for the info gents! Tight lines!!!

Crankbaits, jigs, and topwaters seem to always work for me out there on a consistent basis. Last trip out there for me was from the bank and I landed 2 5lbers on back to back casts from the dam area. This was still late spring though and I firmly believe both of those bass were late spawners since they were both caught out of the exact same spot. I was a using a jig. Also had success that morning throwing a buzzbait parallel to the banks and tossing a squarebill around. There are some good fish in there for sure I really enjoy fishing that lake!
