Do you guys know of a place to rent a cabin or a house on the Devils River? I don't want to kayak down the river just want a deep hole to fish and take my 10yr old boy fishin. Any help with this would be good thanks.

I doubt it. I go pretty often and have for years and there are very few homes on the 20+ miles i paddle. Most of the property's are large ranches. The only possible place is blue sage but no real fishing in that area. Best bet is to camp overnight in the state natural area but its one night only. For fishing, a 2 day trip with one night camping along the river is another option.

I got back from a 5 day trip down almost 50 miles a couple of months ago. I doubt you will find a place to stay unless you know someone. That place is insane!

It is a beautiful, natural place because of its limited accessibility! It would be another San Marcos bikini babe drunk fest if it wasn't for land owners and law enforcement being vigilant about protecting the river! I love that place!! Kayaks or canoes and camping on the islands is really the only option if you don't have a connection. Also if you do that, you have to pack in and pack out everything including your solid waste. They will check to see if you have your "wag bag" with you. Having said that, it is worth doing just to see the country and catch a bunch of smallmouth.

See you on the lake and have a great day!
