Well said. It's not expensive, and when you need it you'll wish you had it.

I have been in the insurance business for a while now and I have got to agree. Boat insurance is very affordable and can really put your mind at ease in certain situations. It will not be something you think about day to day, but when the stuff hits the fan it is really nice to know that there is something in place. I have seen all sorts of things happen, Your entire boat may not get stolen, but some things can be stolen off of it. Accidents happen and who knows when they will happen. The towing benefit is almost worth the entire annual premium in some situations in my opinion. There are those that do not worry about the future and those that are ok no matter what. But for 20 to 30 dollars a month, it is not going to break the bank. Most new boats out there are pretty pricey and that liability mentioned above is well worth it. Depreciation can be an issue but you have to remember that when you add that new I pilot, the depreciation does not kick in until after 2 years in most cases and then at 10% a year so That is something to think about. Just make sure you get an agreed value policy and make sure that you know what deductibles each item falls under, be it personal contents, electronics hull and motor or fishing equipment. In some situations where you have an older boat that is valued at less then 7k or so and is paid off I could see not wanting to insure it but one tow could have been the same cost of annual insurance for that boat. Just my opinion though!

I only fish on days that end in Y!
