Does anybody know whats goin on at whitney. I caught about 10 blue cat in 12-15 ft of water on jugs with hot dog weeners and they were dead when I pulled em in. Only let them set for 30 minutes and no hooks were swallowed is this an oxygen thing?

might be....I know they get some agea bloom there on occaision....and when the water is warmer it does not hold oxygen well. fish will expire quickly. I would think 30 min is pretty short though...would think they'd last longer than that.

I will be on whitney over labor day. was considering doing some jugging as well.

can I ask whereabouts are you catching? I haven't fished whitney in a while. even when we did though....we usually did real good on bass and white bass. usually never found as many catfish. we would catch a few now and again though.

Certainly. We have been catchin em right across from white bluff resort on the edge of river channel and all up in the flats goin from river channel toward steel creek. Also if you go by the bluff where the house fell in goin toward plowman and that area we been just puttin em right on the edge of channel. But the only thing we are catchin em on is chicken hot dog weeners soaked in red kool aid and garlic powder. Ive been stayin in 16 ft of water tryin to stay out of the deep water with no oXygen. Good luck

If your fishing deeper than 15 fow my guess is the thermocline is getting them.
