Tuesday while fishing my alarm kept going off during the day. My oil tank was 3/4 full and I pulled the cowling off twice and the small reservoir was full so what else could be making it go off. It would go off while I was graphing but once I tried to take of a couple times it would go off.

I had a Yamaha v-max that would do the same thing. Found a wire that had a bare spot in it and was grounding out. The alarm would go off when ever I trimmed the motor up and down.

Sure it`s not a heat warning?

A friend told me it might be because of heat. Said something could be stopping up the water. How would I check that?

Could be the impeller, thermostats or the poppet valve.

Sounds like a poppet valve issue is the most likely cause. When was the water pump impeller last changed?
