Been fishing Lavon from the bank and was catching some nice sandies. Went out in the kayak after hearing reports that Lavon was fishing really good for sandies over near Little Ridge and down toward South Lavonia. We were there Friday from 10am to 3pm and it was awesome had them boiling around us in the kayaks wish I had gotten some video of the action with my phone but was having to much fun at the moment. Lots of small sandies and yellows still fun though. Had a few nice ones mixed in. The school was moving so we were also busy chasing them. On our way back to the south Lavonia ramp we found a school of bigger sandies right near the ramp and I hooked into one and had another rod that was laying by my legs bent over. The rod by my legs had a tandem rig with 2 crappie jigs on it, I had the jigs just laying in the water but I still got a double on it! Caught 3 fish on 2 rods at once. Fun times! Planning to go back next Thursday and get an early start.

Typical yellow we were catching.

Here is a sandie on the slab.

Double on the crappie jigs.

This would have been a 2nd double but they hit so hard the bottom crappie jig broke off.

Great post !!!!

I was just talking to a friend of mine today. We have been catching them below the dam on Lake Somerville and he suggested we take the kayaks out on the lake and chase them one morning. I sure hope we can have a day like this one. Congrats on a great day

I don't think Lavon has a very big population of hybrids. Maybe someone else knows. I'm sure there are a few out there somewhere.
