Has anyone fished Big Lake Park in Plano? I see on the TPWD website it's been stocked with catfish as a community fishing lake. I walked the whole pond/lake with the dogs today and scouted out the creek (I think it's Spring Creek)below the lake. No signs of anyone fishing there, no trash, no fishing line, fishing trash etc... just joggers and walkers. So, anyone thats got any info please let me know I'm fishing there Wednesday.

really not a lake, just a stretch of wide creek with a dam. i used to ride my bike there as a kid. i had a pocket knife, line, hooks, weights, and a bag of canned corn in my pocket. i would cut a branch from a willow for a pole, and catch perch all day long. i remember catching a few bass back then. also lots of mudcats. this was in the early 80's. i stopped by there a while back scouting for a place to take my nephews fishing. plenty of little perch in there still. if they have stocked it with channel cats there may be some good fish in there. catch ya a couple perch, cut them into halves or thirds, and you will have the best possible bait. dont be surprised if you catch a turtle.

Fished there quite a few times over the last year as it is at the end of my street... Caught a few smaller LMB's. Nothing of any size, there are a ton of perch though.

Fished Big Lake Park this week and caught a ton of sunfish and a few small cats. No bass. Fun place to take the kids to tear up some worms.

Sorry to revive a 4 year old post but I have a question about this place.
I went there a few months ago to catch bluegill and the "lake" was under construction. Looked like they were widening the lake. They were pumping water out of the lake into the creek and it cause the creek to be chocolate milk which ruined the fishing.
Does anyone know if that construction is still underway?

I think the construction has completed but i'm not 100% sure. I haven't been by there in a long time because of the construction.

In case anyone is curious, it appears the construction is finished. Although, some of the construction connexes and equipment is still sitting out there. At least they are done pumping chocolate milk into the creek below the lake, that's where I catch my perch for catfish bait.

The creek below the lake has channel cats, bullhead, perch and largemouth...
Yesterday I caught a dozen perch, 3 channel cats about 10", 2 bullheads, and 1 LMB
I need more bait for tomorrow's catfishing trip so I'm going back today after work.

Went back for more bait last friday. Caught about 15 perch a few bullheads and a nice 1.5-2lbs carp. When your catching fish that only weigh a few ounces and then catch a carp... it gets fun lol

Spazm09 what are you fishing with? I went yesterday and caught two perch on a spinner. No one else caught anything while I was there. I was fishing near the playground area to about half way to the crossover so I may have been fishing in a different spot than what you do.
