Any reason I can't fish the jetties and inshore with my bass gear? Any help and tips would be good.

I think for trout, flounder, and small reds bass gear is fine. Just use like a 20 lb Fluoro or Mono leader. I didn't do that one time and I hooked something pretty big but when I tried to stop it from going under the pier it must of bit right through the line. Clean cut.

Saltwater is tough on freshwater gear. Be sure to clean up good when you are done.

You'll want to use your softer rods, not the stiff ones. And learn what the drag is on the reel for.
Other than that it's all good.

no reason you cant use your bass tackle in the salt, unless you have lower tier equipment or Mg series reels.
I use my bass tackle (if that is what you call it)for everything from trout to kings and cobia. The curado 300 series reels can handle just about anything inshore. With the 200 series reels I have landed everything from trout to small tarpon along with many smacks and small kings.
I use 30lb braid with fluoro or steel leader, depending on what I am fishing for. Then just rinse the reels when finished.

If you are using lower tiered equipment, you may have issues with rust, weak drag and possibly things breaking depending on what you are catching but I always use a Curado when jetty fishing... Almost always...

i fish predominantly fresh water, and go to the salt now and again....fish the jetties and or bays. I have a couple heavier duty rigs that I will use....like a penn 9m with 30-40lbs line and a heavier rod. but my regular reels....abu 5500-6500 with 15-20lbs line I use out there too. for stuff like trout and small to mid-size reds they work fine. I do wash them out real well with fresh water when I get back. but I've used the same reels for years like that.

large stuff on the jetties, like bull reds, or large drum, or small-mid-size sharks....you'll appreciate a heavier rig. on that penn 9 combo though I've caught anything from roundabout 30lbs reds to a 5ft blacktip.
