I've got a question that maybe one of yall has come across or a brighter mind than mine might have a good idea.

Currently I've got a roll-n-lock on my bed, but would like to find a rack that could work with it. The only spots I have to work with are the stake holes. Does anybody have a rack they use that just uses those holes?

I usually just put the kayak in the bed, but will be headed down to the coast for a week with a couple of yaks and need to have the truck bed open for gear.

Thanks!

I have a Yakima rack that clips to the roof on the front and I welded a frame to fit in the rear stake holes. Works great.

I built a two-yak rack that mounts in the stake holes with 1 1/2" square tubing. For the price of two stalks of tubing and a stalk of 2" flat bar you can make a nice rack, custom fit to your truck.

On my old truck (95 GMC Sirra short bed), I had a Yakima rack attached to the cab and wood 2"x 4" goal post style frame on the rear which went through the stake holes. I don't have anything set up for the 2015 Dodge Ram.

Thanks guys...I may have to try those options if what I ordered doesn't work.

I found a heck of deal on one of these ADARAC racks. Looks perfect for my situation with the roll n lock.

I'll let yall know how it works out when it arrives on Friday.

I'm working on a hitch extender that comes up at a 30 degree angle to the level of the top of the tailgate, allowing my kayak to ride o. The toolbox and the extender with the gate up. Got the metal cut and ready to weld, just need to find someone who'll weld it for a reasonable price.

I would be very careful there. You would be stunned at how easy the back window will break from something hitting it in the middle.

I would be more worried about being rear ended by a Cement Mixer or Dump truck and having the kayak fly through the back window and hit you or your passenger in the head. Kayaks should go flat in the bed with the tailgate down or ride above the cab.

Yeah, that is some sticker shock when you look at the link I posted. $468 isn't the actual price. They sell it for 375, found it online elsewhere for $330...but, I always look on ebay before buying something like that and there was one available. Got it for $260, which is decent.

The lock-n-roll on this truck is very pricey(came with the truck), but theft proof, so with that and the rack I can haul the kayaks and still have a secure bed full of gear and what have you.

Probably most trips by myself will just be the usual in the bed of the truck easy deal though.

Well, any report on how you like/dislike it?
Also, did the Ebay seller have any more at that price?
If so, a link would be great.

Jerry,

It ended up coming in late Friday to my office and didn't have enough time to get it setup for Saturday's trip.

I'm actually about to put in on here in a bit. Probably won't use it much for kayaks until I head down to the coast in a few weeks, unless I can convince a friend to get out on the river before then. Much easier to put it in the back on the pickup bed for day trips, especially when I don't have an extra hand to lift it up on the rack and don't need the bed secured for gear.

Currently the cheapest I see on eBay is $325. I got lucky as it was the only one this seller had, but if it works out how I think it will, I believe it would be worth that price.

I need one for those occasions when I'm pulling the travel trailer.
I also want to be able to carry stuff in the bed and secure my bed cover.
I'm seeing a bunch at the $325 range. I''l probably pick one up next week.
Thanks
