A buddy gave me some baits to repaint for him. Just wondering whats the best thing to use to strip the paint without messing up the bait

Light sandpaper (400grit) to remove the clear coat...sodablasting works if you have the tools to do it. Brad has some good ideas on removing paint. 2cents

brad turned me on to throttle body cleaner.it works great but you have to be careful. if you aren't careful it can actually melt a bait.

Got him lined out on the process, it's kinda hit or miss depending on the process the manufacturer uses to paint and top coat their baits.

or blow yourself up. i just dip a paper towel in the fluid and wipe it on the bait. let it sit for a couple minutes and wipe it off. usually takes more than one application to strip the finish. i've never ever used a flame.

Try wiping it with a saturated laquer thinner rag. Usually does the trick and does not melt since you are wiping it on and off.
