Over 4,500 lbs (so 4501 and up) Look at the title/registration to your trailer.

You don't have to have it inspected but you are supposed to have electric brakes. Only way anyone will ever know is if you get pulled over and the cop is a real pain.

So you're saying everyone who has surge brakes is in violation of the law?

We just had our 16' tandem axle (2-3,500lb) utility trailer at work inspected, no brakes, and it passed. I'm guessing how thorough they are depends on the inspector?

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I don't really know we had our tt inspected and they didn't even look at it, just asked if the lights worked. Our 16' tandem 3500 lb axle flat bed is registered as 3000 lb capacity by the builder, we never knew before so its not inspected either.

Oversight on me, I don't know about what kind of brakes are required, it has to have brakes.

Went in and renewed registration, no problem.
So, I have a tandem FX21 and it's rated at 3,700#. That makes me think that no bass boat trailers require inspection. ???

My trailer for a triton tr21 is rated at 5000. So yes, some of us do need inspections.

So, it sounds like the rating system is screwed up. a 21 foot Triton and a 21 foot Skeeter should no be 1300#'s different. Mine also has a 250 4 stroke, although maybe that doesn't play in.

If you read closer it has to have inspected breaks if over 4500 lbs, but at either 3k or 3500 lbs it has to have some sort of brakes as well.
