My cousin lives on Pool 3. After the water receded a bit, he had a 200 yard long and 50 yard wide new sand beach in his back yard. Red River South was underwater. Yeah, you could say it changed things up a bit.

The river is still high with a pretty good bit of current. I havent been out since the flood but have some buddys that have been the past week. Leaving RRS is fine and main river is still the same but the oxbows are a different story. Whitehouse and caspiana are both silted in and hard to get into right now. Depending on the weather I would think the river will be close to normal pool sept. or oct.

Like Andy has said, it most likely won't b normal pool till September. Lots of new sand bars. Friends have wondered out and found them already. Do not run into the backwaters!

We sure hope that the river is back to normal by the end of the month of Aug. Texoma is at 16.25 feet above normal pool as of 3 am today. The lake level is dropping about 1 foot every day an a half. That means at this pace it will be approximately 24 days before the river will be back to normal level. This will leave about 2 to 3 weeks for you bass champ guys to pre-fish before the off limits time.

As of today the Red measured in Shreveport is at 23.17'. Has fallen about 2.5' since Thursday. I went out Sat from RRS and "wow" might be the best word to describe things. Things you are used to seeing aren't there and like mentioned by others sandbars have moved and getting into cuts between rock jetties is very hard/impossible. Water temp was around 88* main river and up to 99* in the backwaters. Muddy of course but stained to normal/clear in the backwaters. Will try to give a break down as you leave RRS.

some of the markers as you head towards the cut are missing and you can see logs scattered around so I didn't run once I got within a couple hundred yards of the outlet. as you enter the old cut all the old trees/brush/lily pads are washed away so it looks wide open but try to stay to the left and the original cut. water depth varied a lot but stayed around 12' thru the cut but dropped off to 42' quickly on the other side. you can't see the rock jetties to the right and can barely see the top of the jetty to the left.

as you head down river all the reeds are washed away and you just see sand piled up everywhere. I made it into "do not dredge" ok though the current coming across it was still strong. depth was about 5' just as you entered in but I didn't hit anything.

as you get down near "white house" you can see just the tops of the rocks but I didn't try to enter the cut as the current was swirling hard and I hit some rocks trying to guess where the small gap was so decided to back out. all the cuts to the right across from white house are silted in and I found out that the hard way lol.

you can make it into "mcdades" but take your time as the rock jetty isn't visible and its silted in some right near the mouth so running that is up to you.

I enclosed a couple pics hopefully they post well.

**saw several floaters so please use caution while running around**

Wow...that is all crazy. Sure would like to see some more pics if anyone else has been out there lately. Hard to imagine the bank of the main river being bare of all those reeds. Just crazy.

Trust me Billy - I am definitely heading out there prior to the off limits period. Just too many unknowns not to try to get some time in out there ahead of time but I won't go out there until the current slows down. I have friends that are out there and they say its still very dicey.

Lake Texoma is 13.02 feet high as of 11:00 am today that looks like it will be down in plenty of time for some pre fishing at the end of the month before the off limits time starts.

I was really looking forward to fishing the championship this year but I'm going to bow out. Tourney is just too far away and would cost a pretty penny. Between those expenses and probably boat repair expenses (from looking at pics and stories) it's just not worth it. Good luck for those fishing the championship. Hopefully, next year the location will be in Texas.

Copied this from my post on UB.
Went out w Doug from about 0645-230. Ran out of stuff to drink and it was getting hot. River has been steady all week so not much change/pics from my last report. RRS did clean up the debris from the ramp area though!! :-) ran/fished from do not dredge all the way to bishops. Main river is still really muddy and bishops was dirty too. Went into white house and curled most of the way back up to the top and still dirty w no bites. Spooked a lot of fish but don't know what they were.
**as you enter white house thru the rock gap and head south as you near the point where you veer left to stay on the rock side it's gets like 3' so please watch out not sure if it gets any shallower or not**
I idled almost all the way back and the rest stayed around 5' so I'm wondering when the river drops back 9' to normal pool will this be runnable?!?! Got into mcdades ok but did hit something while idling yet again so dunno what has moved but a straight line into the cut isn't working for me right now. Once you get back to the inner part of mcdades it is normal clarity and is the best looking water we saw. Fished into do not dredge and while not clear you can see a very noticeable difference in water clarity from the main river. Bee hive was pretty dirty as well with not much change in color from the main river. Didn't hit Caspiana but all we could see from the main river looked dirty. As for the fishing we caught 7 total w 6 being keepers and biggest fish around 3.5lbs. Didn't even hook a fish until 9ish so should have slept in lol!! :-) same sort of pattern as before just covering water and hitting any scattered clumps of grass. Pit boss and wacky worm (both black/blue) worked about evenly split between bites. Talked to Barbara in RRS and she said some guy had caught 25 in cooleys but we didn't go up in there(maybe next time!). Never really saw any other boats. There were about 12 trucks there when we started and 1 when we left.
**still watch out entering the cuts on the right I got stuck again entering a place I fished last week**

Thanks for the report! I have absolutely loved the venue the last 2 years and really enjoy the experience of fishing in that atmosphere, yes it is a shiny penny but well worth it, it's a bad a$$ place to fish . And most importantly it's family friendly plenty of things for the wife's and kids to do why we are fishing and after the tournament plenty to do as well never a dull moment there...
