I know that by law you are allowed 20 jug lines. My question is, if two people are fishing from the same boat are we allowed 20 for each person for a total of 40 or is the limit 20 for the boat? I have a friend that wants to put out 40, I say 20 is the limit for the boat and we should have no more that 20 on board the boat. Which one of us is correct?

You are not limited to 20 jugs per person. You are limited to 100 hooks in the water per person either by jug, rod & reel, etc. Each jug may not have more than 5 hooks. Jugs must be tagged with a gear tag to include your name. You and your buddy can have 20 jugs each out with your tag on 20 and his tag on 20. With 5 hooks on each, you are bound to catch fish.

Keeping up with 20 jugs and checking/re-baiting every couple of hours will be lots of work. Be hard to maintain 40 without having lots of empty hooks and losing fish or jugs.

Thanks for the input. I stand corrected on the 20 jug limit. I do agree that many jugs would be too much to keep up with and to keep baited. I think we will only use 10 if free floating and only 20 if they are anchored to the bottom. I don't think that I am up to keeping up with 40.

20 noodles are about all I can keep up with if I have a helper in the boat.
I think 12 is about it for me if I am by myself. Last time I put out 17 noodles with my brother helping me and caught 8 keepers and lost a few to underwater hangups. Once my noodles are deployed I start fishing with rod and reel until a bunch of noodles are standing up, then the chase is on.
Fishing with jugs or noodles can be a lot of work but also a heap of fun.

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
