Just bought a used boat from a private party. I have all the forms and paperwork for registration. I am having trouble finding a local tax office (I live in Frisco)that will process a boat registration and trailer? The number I call for the Denton location is a recording. Anyone dealt with this recently or know of a better option than going to Garland or Fort Worth TPWD office and then to tax office?

Thanks in advance.

Don't know of any other TPWD offices around the area. The trailer you will have to get registered at the tax office.
Make sure you have a bill of sale with you when registering the boat. And watch the gross weight of the trailer when
registering, try and keep it under 4500 lbs so you won't have to worry about the trailer inspection.

All boat registration has to go through the TPWD, trailer registration goes through local tax office

You can do the boat registration at the Gainsville tax office or at TP&W in Ft worth or Garland.

Actually odd that your local tax office will not handle it for you. The small local tax office here in Somervell County had all the paperwork and handled a boat purchase and a fourwheeler purchase just like they handle my automobile registrations. They had all the forms and took care of the title transfers.

If your in frisco, you must go to either garland or FW to TPWD for boat and motor. Trailer at your tax office

Not all local tax offices can handle marine registration. They have to also be authorized by TP&W, or someone, to do so. I had to drive to another city to get mine done. Link to find ,location
