So I took a friend to Broken Bow, OK, and we kayaked the Lower Mountain Fork Saturday and Sunday from the Reregulation Dam to Hwy 70. It was his first time to kayak, and we took my Ride 115 and another 115 that belongs to a friend. I have high and low seats for my Ride, and after I had the seat back on one of the seats fold, I modded it to increase the seat back height by about 6". I used the high seat both days because it is so comfortable, but the higher center of gravity put me in the river once each day. I wouldn't have dumped either time in the low seat, and that has me wondering if maybe I should purchase the Air Pro Max seat so I can sit high in the calm water, and sit low in the rapids/falls. Does anyone have this seat yet, and what do you think about it?

Specifically, will it stand up to my 265#? How low is the low position? The high position? Can you really adjust it on the water?

Thanks.

Artie

Artie, I have one in my 135. I can adjust it on the water but it takes a bit of dexterity. I have to move off of the seat and forward to make it move up and down. I also do that one handed as I am holding the paddle with my other. If I were to ever have both hands free I might could do it sitting in the seat but just haven't tried. High position catches a LOT more wind. It's only a few inches but you can tell a big difference. With your frame I expect it would be the same. Low position is still pretty easy to get in and out of and catches a lot less wind. I can also store two Plano 3600 boxes under the seat even in the low position though they are easier to get out in the high position.

The only other thing I would mention that Chris did not cover, the low position still is not as low as the air pro 3 low.

Thanks, guys.

Chris, I always catch the wind. Unless I'm laying down. Bert, that is the real question I wanted to get the answer to. From now on, when I'm going to Beaver's Bend I'm using my low seat. I need the lowest CoG I can get. If the new seat would get as low as the original low seat, I would probably get one.

It may be time for my next project. An adjustable seat that gets low and gets up, too. I will keep you posted.

I've been using the air pro Max seat in both a 135 and my atak and I'm a big guy(250lbs) without any issues. I think you'd be fine. I also think you'd like the upgrade, I know I sure did.

Artie I'm pretty sure the low position is 2 inches higher than the Air Pro 3 low seat. The high position is the same as the high seat or real close and you can change positions on the water with no problem. I'm hoping it holds up with 270#

Todd, I hope it holds up for you. I'm going to stick with what I have for now. I extended my seatback up when it folded on a trip down the river, and I'm pretty much happy with it on either seat. I'm going to use it on the low seat in the river, and I should be good. Here is the seat back mod.

I may even try raising it up more, but it will require longer support straps.

Nice mod. To your seat . I'll have to borrow it for my low seat back. Did the same to me . Just bought the the high seat and carried on. Now it can have a 2nd life.

BOPGUNNER, I have plenty of 3/4" sq tube with black powder coat. It's perfect for this seatback mod. Let me know if you want some. BTW, if you try to make the back higher than mine, you will have to have a longer strap. Mine is pretty much maxed out.
