I just bumped my thread on how I build my juglines since they changed the law and they can be any color. I like the monster noodle design much better than the regular small noodle design.

I too like the bigger noodle design. It will tire out a 20 lb blue pretty quick to where it will head in to shallow water to rest. Here's some more detail on what I am building. I just did another dozen yesterday for another feller. 3/4" schedule 40 pvc. Do not use the dwv thin wall stuff.
The parts all from Home Depot and Academy

Epoxy in the eye screws. I fill cap about half full

Tying the leader. I use 8/0 Octopus. 125 lb braid Just in case a biggun bites. Swivels are the weakest point they will only hold about 100lbs before they pull apart.

Finished

Been a while since we fished Bratonia Park (Lake Lavon). Low water levels kept it closed for several years. This morning we put in the Jon Boat and set Jug Lines.

We baited the lines with Shad caught with our cast net. And, in a short while we had our first bite. Turned out to be a Bruiser that went just over 33" in length!

Slow but steady bite that ended with five Catfish - four Blues and one Channel. Fun stuff, Team's biggest Catfish caught to date! Today's Video.

All the above is great Info. I actually learned a few things.
That's what makes this a great place for Tips.
With that stated.
This time of year; with the heat and thermocline. Moving up an-
down.
We set shallow Trotlines. Along the mouths of Creeks.
Off the points of draws. Running into the main lake.
About. 6; deep. Mainly for Channels. Make sure waves are
pushing into the cove behind your line.
BEEF-BULL-LIVER!!!!!!!! For bait.
Good Luck

Thanks Bittercreek! Will keep this in mind next round we go juglining.

FYI: Tried a different recipe to cook some of the fillets - Blackened Catfish!

I just use a bleach bottle for a float. then I take a packaged 150' trot line and cut it into 50ft sections. then I use the clips to make leaders for hooks. I typically us size 7 circle hooks. this way when I get to a fish, I can just unclip it from the main line. or when baiting I have 5 hooks and leaders baited and just simply clip them on as the jug goes down. then I can unclip them and wrap up the line without any tangles. I do the same thing for my noodle jugs. I just tie knots and the clip goes in between the knots. ive used shad and perch for bait with little success.. however, Chicken Breast any time of year tends to be the best bait. big blues or small blues they all love chicken breast. no marinating or seasoning, just boneless skinless chicken breast straight from the store. I was skeptical at first, but it works.

Went juglining Saturday at Bratonia Park (Lake Lavon). Saturday's Video. Caught five Catfish; was hoping to get another Bruiser like we did last year!

Made it back to Bratonia for more jug lining. Caught six Catfish, largest went ~8 lbs! Also, caught a little Gar on a jug line, and a Gaspergou with the cast net. Today's Video.

It's a weight that slides to the end of the PVC tube and causes the noodle to stand upright. This tells you when a fish is on or has bit. Also lets you see the noodle from a good distance if it's standing up. I carry binoculars in my boat so I can watch my noodles from afar. Also to make sure somebody doesn't try to run my lines.

Everybody don't fish with noodles the same method. I fish mine free floating and some people weight them to the bottom. I like mine to free float with the wind and current so they will cover more water. I mainly fish flats and set them out so they will drift toward the bank. If I can drift them over creek channels even better but always toward the bank. I get more bites this way than any other method. I never leave mine out unattended. If the bite is on a dozen noodles will keep you plenty busy. It's a really fun way to stock the freezer.

Thanks for the information might give it a try but it sounds like a way to stock your freezer & I'm more of a catch & release but then again it sounds fun
