Need to start building up my saltwater tackle box. Went to the local Academy and Bass Pro (DFW area) and was really disappointed.

I'm looking for the boards thoughts for buying tackle online. I know specifically what I want and the list is somewhat extensive...from top water to soft plastics to line/flouro, hooks, popping corks and some gear like pliers, gloves, Plano storage boxes, etc. From TTF, Heddon, Rapala, Gulp, Strike King to Mirrolure.

What websites do y'all recommend? I'm looking for a comprehensive online retailer that provides lengths/size/weight/color options, etc.

Primary targets are redfish and trout.

Thank you in advance!!

You can't go wrong with Roys Bait & Tackle out of Corpus Christi. They have a huge selectiion and they specialize in salt water.

Baad Marine Supply.

The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

Roy's website isn't a true reflection of what they have in store. They have an enormous selection in Corpus, their brick and mortar has never disappointed me. The best website I have found by far is Tackle Warehouse.. They have everything I have ever needed and free shipping over 50 bucks and always have great holiday and normal sales.

Tight Lines!

That's a shame...Roy's is losing business because of their crappy website. Why even have an online store if you don't either have all your inventory on it or don't take the time to update it? Oh well...not my problem.

I priced 15-20 items on Tackle Warehouse and Fishing Tackle Unlimited out of Houston and everything was equal. TW didn't carry a few items so I'll give my business to the Texas based company. I also tried Baad Marine but their online store was pretty sparse too.

Fishing Tackle Unlimited in Houston and you might try Fishin' World on Lovers Lane in Dallas. The BassPro in Grapevine has a fair selection of saltwater stuff or, at least they did the last time I was out there. For online, try Charkbait.

I purchased through FTU online. They have a great website and selection. Got 90% of what I was looking for.

BTW, BassPro in Grapevine had a few things but very limited and some of the items they did carry were out of stock.

I was happy to support FTU being a Texas company.

Charkbait has a lot of high end stuff. Good site to know whether they have the specific items you are looking for or not.

All of the above are ok.There is one more I would recommend and that is serious tackle that is south of FTU in Houston.

Shoot I totally forgot about those guys! Thanks for reminding me about them. TW is mostly a freshwater site which is why you may not have found everything you were looking for.
