Same story I had a few weeks ago on CC. Seems like those pesky crappie are playing hard to get out there.

We pulled about twenty keepers this morning shooting docks and fishing main lake standing timber. No one spot held a lot of active fish, but by aggressively fishing the fish we did find, we were able to put together a decent mess. We were fishing a White Hot Thump Chubby on a 1/16 ounce unpainted jig head. The docks were deeper docks, and the timber was in 20-22ft of water, with the fish being 8-12ft down.

The reality is, no one really has much to tell you. I doubt very seriously anyone is "holding out" on you.
CC has been a struggle for most folks the past 2-3 weeks. Not a lake a first timer is going to have a lot of success on right now. It's a great crappie lake, just not a good time. All that being said, I'd keep hitting the bridges. Good luck.

This. CC is tough right now. You gotta have timber and brush options deep to catch them. Now starting September 15th till November 28th? They will be loaded on most of the obvious places.

Curious if the thermocline has set in yet on CCL? If so, it must be pretty deep?
