Fished the Perdernales River in the Stonewall area a few days ago. The river is in GREAT SHAPE with water going over the three spill ways I fished. The bite started out good in the early morning around 7am and then slowed down around 10:30am. Caught about 30 fish. Bluegill in the 7"range,several Bass in the one to two pound range, and some small greens rounded out the catch. Fish were located in deep pockets of water by each spill way. Fished another main channel of the river in Johnson City and picked up a few more nice Gills in the 7"range. All fish were healthy, fat, and full of fight. The water was clear with good current. All fish were caught with a bottom technique, using worms. Fish were released to fight again. A great day fishing the Perdernales River! It just don't get any better. fish

Thanks Robert for the reply! cheers Caught around 10 fish at each spillway. Caught five in Johnson City. The usual spots you and me fished in the past were all holding fish. One of the Bluegills I caught told me to tell you Hi. thumb

I'm always amazed at all the places you have found to bank fish Banker and how many fish you catch. Truly amazing. Wish I could do half as well.

Thanks! I love finding places to fish all throughout Texas. There are a lot of public places to fish in this State. You can also find land owners who will let you fish their property as well! One thing to always remember. "You never have to many places to fish"! thumb

Chuck,

Caught a couple of crappie on my tanago fly rod, earlier. Just been too hot 1ately. It's in the 90's by 10. Going to tie some flies this weekend. Try to get up early next week and fish for an hour or two.

Looks like you made your annual trip to the Perdernales! Nice post and some nice fish. Good job Chuck.

Side Note: Are the deep pockets of water by the spillways locked in where the fish are trapped or can they get out? I see several nice pockets of water that looked like they were surrounded by limestone.

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply! cheers Those water holes are anywhere from 3 to 5 feet deep. eeks Some of em hold some pretty nice fish. coolio They are trapped there until the river rises and starts flowing strong. The Perdernales has a lot of limestone areas and they can dry up very fast especially without descent rainfall. hmmm
