Had someone order some baits and he wanted some painted like the LC tomato craw that was discontinued in the 1.5. It was my first time making a stencil and it took much longer than I expected. I finished them about 2 am and accidentally painted the claws on the bill the wrong color. They were supposed to be yellow/orange. I am looking forward to all of y'all's critiques and constructive criticism.

Hey bud, I think they look pretty dang good. The only comment would be that I am fond of the having the black fine lines behind each shell line to set it off. And not real crazy about the light colored claws but they could work in the right place. I think they would have been better if they were the fire red with some orange/yellow highlighting and maybe even some light orange/yellow speckles in the red back. Just some thoughts but nothing is good too. smile

tmed. what did you use to make your stencil? stencils are pretty easy to make if you've got the right set up. pics of my stencil rig. you can use plastic milk cartons or petg sheets in 0.020". amazon has them for $11 for 12- 12x12 sheets. i get 8 3x6 pieces from each sheet. that's a lot of stencils.
an xacto knife works ok on some stencils but i prefer a dremel tool with the flex arm. way better results and much quicker. use a 1/32" bit
vaccuum box

petg holder. keeps the fingers away from the heat gun.

1.5 stencil ready to be cut out

I agree on the black accents and the claws were supposed to be orange, but I just flat out forgot about that until I woke up this morning. I left the black accents off because I was asked to make a replica of the LC tomato craw.

Interesting I had someone asked me to paint a few of these on 1.5 blanks a while back along with a few other patterns. Must be a fairly popular pattern I had never heard of it before.

I formed the stencil fairly easily. The time consuming part was cutting, trimming, and sanding the stencils. I did use a combination of a dremel and scalpel. It just seemed like it took awhile since it was my first time I guess. I can sure make these baits again quick now that I have the stencils though.

Never heard of a Tomato Craw pattern before...but it looks great. Nice work duplicating that pattern. Stenciling is very nice. thumb
